Why Choose Us

Waterjet cutting does not warp or alter the structure of the material being cut, as a laser, plasma cutter, or more traditional cutting tool sometimes does. It is also is capable of very fine and complicated shapes. Additionally, a waterjet’s precision cuts do not require sanding or grinding, and it produces no byproducts that might harm human operators or the environment — unlike laser cutting and plasma cutting. The water can also be recycled, reducing waste and cost while increasing energy efficiency.

Frequently Asked Question's On Waterjet Cutting

What is Waterjet Cutting?

Waterjet cutting is a method of cutting materials for industrial purposes such as machine component production by directing a high-pressure jet of water with an abrasive substance. CNC (Computer Numerical Control) systems run G-code to position the water jet nozzle and boost precision in modern water jet cutters. The ability to cut metals, plastics, foam, composites, and other materials without increasing the material surface temperature and compromising the internal structure of the material (no Heat Affected Zone, or HAZ); the ability to cut sharp corners, holes, and complex shapes with small inner radii; fast turnaround rates; and minimal material waste due to precise cutting and the narrowness of the nozzle are all important benefits of waterjet cutting with an abrasive substance.

What Are The Advantages?

Waterjet cutting is incredibly accurate. A kerf (cut thickness) can, for example, be as shallow as.042", with better cut part tolerances of up to +/- 0.005". Moreover, our waterjet machines cut up to four times quicker than traditional flat stock waterjet cutting machines, resulting in incredibly high manufacturing efficiency and lower costs. Our waterjet machines cut ordinary and exceptionally elaborate shapes with excellent precision, requiring little or no finishing.

How Large Can A Project Be?

Each project is unique, and we don't have a limit on size.

What MaterialsCan Be Used?

The capabilities of waterjet cutting are virtually limitless. Here at HSM Fabrication we primarily work with titanium, tungsten, stainless steel, tool steel, aluminum, as well as stone, wood, composites and various plastics. Ask us about your product – we’ll do a test cut.

What Our Clients Say

Last year I was in the process of converting a newish but dead Mini Cooper S into an electric car, and High Speed Metal Fabrication helped me find the metal I needed for my electric motor to transmission adapter plate. Then they were able to take some tracings I had made of my transmission case, find the correct center for my electric motor shaft, and create the files they needed to waterjet me the exact part that I needed. If anyone needs a mini cooper to electric motor adapter plate – call them.

…I received a wonderful steel sign as a present, and I couldn’t believe how detailed it was. It turned out that it was designed at and then cut on the water jet at High Speed Metal Fabrication… One of the coolest signs ever!
